One of my favourite parts of the Lift Manchester event was the phenomenal seminars, but more specifically, our mental health focused seminars. SWIPE to see a lil clip from our seminar where I spoke about my journey (I was trying v hard not to cry here lol)➡️

When I got asked to do this a couple of months back, I was ecstatic. This is exactly the kind of thing I’ve wanted to see more & more in the industry for AGES. I talk about my own mental health very openly on social media but, on the day of the seminar, it hit me I was going to be discussing my own personal journey, in person, on a mic, in front of thousands of people. So before we went into the seminar ring I was shaking lol. I had to miss lunch incase I threw it up with nerves & I could barely hold my own water. I was given a mic, waiting to go on & I had to v quickly gather myself & throw myself into this opportunity. So I did it the only way I know how, I sang Formation to myself over & over and geared up like this was a boxing match lol. I had cold, nervy sweats & my voice was cracking a little as I was getting ready to talk about my story; thinking, idk if I can do this. Then I looked up & saw @noelmack_ who gave me a lil smile from the crowd and I remembered exactly why I was there. .
These conversations are not easy to have. We, as a society, have ignored them for years. But with Gymshark, we’re moving forward to bring them to the forefront of health & fitness. Mental health is a part of fitness and we’re proud to bring the topic to our stage, to share our experiences from our platform’s, in order to normalise the conversation. We all have mental health, we all have a journey, so let’s not neglect it any longer. 🖤

I’ve also been super into Pilates lately which is forcing me to use muscles I typically don’t use at all ✨🙌✨🧘‍♀️ I was so scared to try it at first because I had never done it before - but I forced myself to try one class & it’s my new favorite thing!! ⁣I actually used the free trial(cause yo girl be on dat budget life) with @classpass & it’s giving me so many chances to try new workout classes

Okay soo I am a HUGEEE procrastinator and this year I’ve really been focusing on trying to change that through goal setting ☺️💛⠀
⠀
Because of this I want to share a few of my best tips 🙌 to help you get motivated & reach whatever goals you might have ✔️📕⠀
⠀
1️⃣ Get a pen 🖊 & paper 📝 and write out your goals into Separate categories ⠀
⠀
i.e fitness goals 💪, work, school 📙, mental health ☺️ goals etc. From there put your goals in an order from small goals to the larger ones and make sure they’re attainable goals ❤️⠀ ▫️To make attainable goals they should be specific (ie. eat 30G of protein with 5 breakfast’ each week 🍤)⠀ ▫️They should be realistic and shouldnt include numbers (I’m going to lose 3️⃣0️⃣lbs in 3 months is unrealistic because if youre working out youre probably also gaining muscle 💪 which weighs more than fat so your weight might not decrease a whole lot even if your physique does 💃)⠀ ▫️also don’t go overboard. I like to have goals for several areas of my life but too many is overwhelming 😫, might confuse you, and then you won’t want to look at your little goal sheet so keep the list short and specific 🥰⠀
2️⃣ Write out dates you’d like to have everything completed by whether this is in a week, a month, or a year write it out to keep you motivated 🙌⠀
3️⃣ Have this list of goals somewhere that you will see it EVERY SINGLE DAY💕. This makes a Hugeee 🙌🙌difference for me staying motivated with my goals and shows me that I am making progress🥰⠀
4️⃣ Optional: make a vision board of your most important goals (not everyone will want to do this one but i lovee seeing all my fitness inspo’s every morning because it helps get my butt to the gym) 💛⠀
5️⃣After you complete a goal check it off ✔️ and treat yourself to something 🍬 (this could be a sweet treat if your goals is to improve your diet to eating 80% clean) ☺️⠀

A pen hasn’t change much over time, why? Because it a pen! It does what a pen is meant to do! There is a common theme when working with people and falling off the things that have been working for them in the past. An example of this is tracking calories. -
So you start to track calories and hitting a calorie goal day in day out. Within a few weeks you have lost a good amount of Lbs. TICK! -
A couple weeks after you weigh yourself and fat loss has slowed down, yes there could be a number of reasons for this but I first thing I ask… ‘Are you still tracking?’…. What do you think the answer is? -
Tracking calories is a useful tool for understanding what foods, how much food, times/days you eat the most, were things can be tweaked or changed and so on. Tracking is definitely not for life, I hate doing it for long periods of times myself! But, if it’s been working, keep at it until you nail it and totally understand the calories you are consuming on a daily basis, or as @joeneillfitness calls ‘being food literate’. The eating out topic ill leave for another day!

It honestly felt so nice just focusing on arms for a change. I have been finding myself not implementing enough arm exercises into my routine! Although I am training them indirectly during push and pull days. I believe they should be trained just like any other muscle in the body ! Don’t neglect the arms ladies❤️

My last and third set of doubles with 160kg. I’m cutting the squat abuse a little early my body is a wreck and it’s affecting my training motivation. Time to reset maybe and have another try at 180kg later in the week. Four years difference with a 180kg deadlift. Going back to 2015 the first time it took me forever to lift it and I was heavier in body weight. So I never train conventional deadlifts and haven’t done so since my powerlifting days. Thought I’ll deadlift for fun recently and 180kg went up pretty easy being a few kilos lighter too.
