This week we’re in Palma, Mallorca and tomorrow we’re trying out the gym at Palma sports & tennis club @palma_tennis. I’m happy with the progress I’ve made but I’m not there yet. ·

Last year I didn’t eat much (or nothing at all which wasn’t healthy), didn’t have a food schedule and went to the gym very often but without a training schedule. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Back then, when I saw this pic of myself, I wasn’t happy.
As I said I went to the gym very often and lost a lot of fat but I was tired all the time and didn’t have no energy. My goal was to gain muscles and start eating healthy. 🤨
·
I’ve made the decision to ask for help (still really thankful for that @mikevandoorne ) as it was really hard for me to eat right. From that moment I started to follow a food schedule and learned myself to make training schedules. 🏋🏽‍♀️

This all worked out so well and I started to feel healthier and had so much energy. 🔥
·
Today I’m still following (my own) food and training schedules and I’m so happy with the gains I’ve already made. I’m not there yet as I gained a lot of muscle and also fat but last week I started to cut properly and it’s going really well! Can’t wait for the result 🙈 ·

So fam all I wanted to say is success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. 💪

challenges are something we all face everyday. In different aspects of our lives we are presented with a challenge and a choice in how to handle that challenge. One year and 6 months ago I took on myself as a challenge as something in my life I wanted to change, to be in control of and to better. We all can do hard things, the issue is following through, lts consistently showing up for ourselves. I’ve found my tribe who encourage me to blow those challenges out of the park and there’s room for you too! Don’t let a voice in your head or someone whispering negativity into you make you believe you can’t face a CHALLENGE. This move was a challenge for me and it will be for awhile but I will face it with determination and I will overcome!

Jogging three times a week is a great way of losing weight and building your stamina! But getting started can be a bit daunting. So let's walk through the basics together! 🎽💨🏃‍⠀

Find good-running shoes: Unlike other workouts, you don't need any equipment to get started. But having comfy shoes with good cushioning and support is essential for a successful jogging exercise, otherwise wrong shoes may develop into an injury. If you have a larger body shape, then opting for more cushioning might be a good start. But if you prefer the sensation of being closer to the ground then just get less!⠀
⠀
Walk: If you're new to exercise, or out of shape, then begin with walking for 15-20 minutes a day for 3-4 weeks. Then gradually increase your pace from walking to jogging!⠀
⠀
Stretch: It's crucial to warm up your muscles by starting out with a walk/brisk walk for a few minutes rather than running straight out your door. But more importantly after your workout you definitely need to stretch, simply take 10 to 15 minutes going through some stretches and possibly some foam rolling exercises. Trust me, your body will thank you for it in the long run.⠀

Set a pace: With your first few runs, begin by starting off slow by running for 5 minutes, and then walking for 2 minutes. This will enable your body to adjust whilst having a good work-out.⠀

Get the right form: Finding your best form will significantly improve your performance and enjoyment when working out. This will come down to personal preferences. But make sure you breath regularly and keep an even rate, and try to keep your arms beside your body, otherwise you will waste energy.⠀

When I speak with clients for the first time and ask them what they want to achieve in 4, 8 or 12 weeks the answer is normally:

‘I want to lose weight’
‘I want to tone up’
‘I want to build muscle’

In order to really make a real transformation you need to dig a bit deeper and be more specific. Instead think about:

What dress size or t-shirt size you want to feel good in on a night out.
How much you want to squat or bench in the gym.
How much energy you want on a day to day basis.

Create a date or an event 8 or 12 weeks from now to achieve your goal and tell everyone you know. ACCOUNTABILITY is key!
This will make you razor sharp with your focus on achieving your goal.

Going out and buying a new item of clothing that you want to fit into.

Getting a picture of your dream physique and sticking it on your fridge so you are looking at it every day.

Injuries are legitimately awful.⁠

Anyone who has gotten into a good routine with their fitness and then had to take time out for injury will tell you that the self-perception that comes with time off, as well as the lack of progress, is awful.⁠
.⁠
The key is a good rehabilitation program that builds to last. This is what we look for after injury as a way of returning to training AND avoiding future re-injury.⁠
.⁠
The first step is appropriate rest: this is hard, but it doesn’t need to be total immobility. It could be a matter of taking a week off with a sprained ankle while you work on upper body strength/bodyweight movement. Training AROUND an injury is usually for most issues a good shout!⁠
.⁠
After this, the next step is proper movement quality to strengthen the muscles and joints that were injured. These are typically low-load, low-impact exercises.⁠
.⁠
From here, learning to re-integrate the injured body-part is key. This should include effective, slightly higher load isometric, co-contractions. These are holds where both sides of a joint contract together – in the example of the knee injury this could be a slow bodyweight squat with a co-contraction at 90=degrees.⁠

If you're injured or have been in the past and just don't know how to get back into your training without causing more damage then I highly recommend you work with a qualified specialist to identify what’s really going on who can then work with you or your PT to get a plan of action in place.⁠

I often injure myself as I still have the mentality more is better but working alongside the magic hands of @leskupu keeps me on track when issues arise. Listen to your body, it is always talking to you so take note and don’t be so stubborn!

Have thesw people ever actually worked with someone in real life?

If you have then you know it is hard enough to get people to go from a dinner of fried cheese sticks and soda to just grocery shopping and sticking to a list.

You think they are suddenly going to cut out all carbs and only eat avocado and kale?

Telling someone to make their own tacos with lean meat and corn tortillas and having some frozen fruit for dessert is a GREAT step.

Not bashing it because a tortilla is 'processed' and fruit is 'sugar'.

That doesn't help. There is no perfect.

We need to celebrate progress more and stop obsessing over perfection.

The extreme approaches scare people off and exist in twitter threads, instagram pics, and arguments more than on actual people's dinner tables.

Because while your perfect meal and plan and posts get likes and love... I promise you, the average joe is not doing it and struggling to take consistent action trying to jump from where they are at to zero-carb, paleo, zone, ketosis extravaganza.

Support and encourage a 'little bit better'.
